Dirty Tricks

So, apparently Kilgore is desperate, using misleading and dirty tactics to save his campaign.

First, he sent out something called the "Official Democrat and Progressive Voter Guide" unfavorably comparing Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Tim Kaine to former Republican Russ Potts on abortion, gay rights, and guns.

Second, voters in Virginia are now receiving automated phone calls from a group called Honest Leadership for Virginia PAC that states: "I’m Tim Kaine and I want you to know where I stand on the issues." But the group has donated $2.85 million to Kilgore.

Now, I realize the links are not to unbiased news sites on bar with CNN -- so I'm wondering if any of your have either received these calls or seen the mailing. Is it accurate to call these tactics dirty? Is Kilgore that desperate?

Yup, Randy had one of those fake Kaine/Potts flyers at his place. As for the calls, I'll leave that to our VA/Richmond residents.

I saw the flyer at Randy's party this past weekend, but I haven't received one personally. Nor have I received a phone call from the PAC you mention. I know that the Kaine campaign was recently fined for sending out a similarly misleading flyer. I am disgusted by both campaigns for stooping to such tactics. And I'm alarmed that PACs seem to have free reign to openly and directly deceive voters. It is inexcusable and despicable. How do we signal to politicians/PACs that we as voters are fed up with the lies and deception? I think it's sad that this will most likely be chalked up to "politics as usual." When did it become OK to operate like this?
